Why You Need To Start Trading Your Awesome Services
Trading Services Has Been Going On For Centuries.
Since the dawn of skills, people have been trading services. The stone mason traded with the baker. The blacksmith traded with the fisherman. The fitness instagram model traded with the health foodie blog. These things happened! Instead of trading a service for money, they traded it for another service in return. You’re probably thinking “I’d just take the money.” Yes you can do that, take the money and use that money for something that isn’t that service, but where is the fun in that?
Humor me for a minute, why would you want to trade your services with someone? First reason is you need that service or good that person provides, but don’t have the money. If they also need what you do, then it works out perfectly! Second reason, you want to strengthen a relationship between you and the other person.
What Would You Trade for Free Pizza?
Notice the pizza shop down the road needs a website? Build them one. The mechanic on the corner could use some paint outside their building? Go make a trade! You could get some repairs for a discount or get free pizza. The worst thing you can do is not be open to a trade. If you run a business you know how precious money can be. Tt’s the reason why most businesses don’t invest in a graphic designer or get that old wall repainted.
Look Ma’ I’m Trading Services!
I’m trading my services right now. A great trainer and awesome guy named Mitch Heaslip out of Ft. Worth, Texas is giving me some fitness and nutrition coaching. In exchange I’m doing some graphic design work. The timing couldn’t be better because I am looking to get in shape and I have time on my hands to help.
Setting it up was pretty simple, I do this and he will do this. So far it’s going well and I’m looking forward to working on his project as well as putting his coaching to use.
People have been trading services since the dawn of time, what are you waiting for?
Final Notes: I know I’ve been all over the place with where I’m posting. I hope you will bear with me in this time of change. Here is my current favorite gif.
Yes that is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making funny faces and I love it.
